The differences between a recurring charge and adding a service are as follows:
Recurring charge
A recurring charge can be used for a once off charge to a specific client account. Every recurring charge you add is unique.
If you would like to apply the same recurring charge to several client accounts you will need to add the charge individually each time - setting the term and recurrence every time you do so. Changes to a recurring charge needs to be done manually per individual client account.
Recurrence term: Recurring charges can be set to recur over any time period on any date.
Ideal for: Creating once off unique charges for individual clients.
Example: You would like to charge a client for a SEO package. You business does not usually offer this service, so you would not like it to be visible on your online signup form. The charge that you want to add for the client is once off and unique, you would not need to charge other clients for the same sort of service package. The client has also requested that his payment be charged on the 25th of each month. -- You will add a unique recurring charge to this clients account.
Adding a service
A service package is a re-usable charge that can be applied to several client accounts. Once a service has been added to SnapBill you will be able to add the same service package to several different client accounts - retaining all the service package pricing and description information.
The services you add are available through your online order form and can be ordered by your clients. If you have several clients that you know will make use of a certain standardized service the best would be to add a service and several standardized packages and then apply the appropriate service and package to your clients account. Changes to a service or package - eg price - will automatically be applied on all the clients using the service - a great time saver.
Recurrence term: When adding a service package to a client account you can choose between an annual or monthly charge recurrence. The client will always be charged on the 1st of every month for any service package you add.
Ideal for: Charging several clients who use the same service and package.
Example: You would like to charge a client for an SEO package. Your business offers this sort of service on a regular basis, so you would like it to be visible on your online signup form. The charge that you want to add for the client is standardized, you would need to charge other clients for the same sort of service package. The client has not requested a spesific date for debit and can be invoiced on the 1st of each month. -- You will add a service in SnapBill, then add a package and apply this to the clients account.
